Saying goodbye to the summer

Well it's been dark and rainy all day today and the wind is beginning to howl so I think I can kiss good bye to my flip flops!
So this will be my second winter here but I am still not quite mentally prepared for it, at least I can escape to the californian sun for some of it!
What have I been up to recently....well I have been keeping an eye on those Dahlias in Botaniska Trädgården and growing my own out of 3 pots only one was really succesful but it's looking really beautiful, unfortunately I think the frost will take hold soon.
Trädgårds Föreningen is about to close its gates for the season so I will need a new place to relax, but i'm sure I will enjoy those misty windy Saturdays sitting on the rocks at Hovås Badet with a nice hot coffee.
My time flying swedish charter is also coming to an end and I think that my flying days are over for good, there has been a lots of up and downs since I started flying at 18 and the demands of swedish charter passengers are just too much for this english girl haha! So now I will have more time for the 'ole blog.

Onwards and upwards :-)

Holiday

So the weather during my vacation was amazing, we spent lots of days at the beach, the ocean was so warm! We also took a trip to Liseberg which I loved. Universeum was cool but not really for me with all the Snakes! No thank you. We also took a trip on Paddan, which gave such a different view of the city.

I also found a new favourite Hangout, sitting at the outside bar on the Sofas at Avalon, they also do gorgeous food. HamnKrogen in Liseberg does wicked Cosmopolitans, the best i have had in a long time.

We also checked out the new wine bar on Linnégatan it had a really nice vibe but they need to invest in some better champagne, it either tasted like apple tango or was just so difficult to drink (which for me is not normally a problem)

Texas Longhorn has become one of my new favourite places to eat, when I can't be bothered to cook or go shopping, really good steaks and even better wine, they go perfectly together! We even bought the steak sause to use at our very own BBQ Party! Looking forward to Emma's visit in August, got a good itinerary planned!

Swedish Taste

So J and I decided to go to Swedish Taste for an early Midsommar dinner as we are both working the weekend :-( To start with we had Kir Royal's which were mixed at the table for us. I had scallops for starters and Cod for my main course, everything came with a twist, something a little out of the ordinary, by the time it came to dessert I was too full so we settled for petit Fours and Coffee. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. just as it should be. We will definately go back!
The day also came when I had to say goodbye to Suzi, can't believe it has been almost a year since we met here in Gothenburg, both lonely english girls...What a long way we have come since then Suzi! We went to a Greek restaurant on Linnégatan for the Last Supper and my attempts to get Suzi to stay failed miserably! Miss you already, come and visit soon.

Breakfast Anyone?

So today started with breakfast outside in the sun, people watching at Eggs and Milk, I love that place, I had my usual, breakfast combo a cream cheese bagel, bacon, fried egg (flipped on both sides) cup of tea and an extra order of pancakes to share with J! Mmmmm. Then off I went with Suzi and had a walk around the city and suddenly we found ourself in the Café at City Museum. One of our favorite spots for coffee, where if you are lucky enough you can grab one of the window seats (actual window seats where you sit on a rather large comfy window sill full of fluffy cushions) and you can stare out over the canal. Perfect place for a gossip and with Suzi leaving on saturday, there was a lot to gossip about. is that a hint of regret I see Suzi???

The beginning...

After 7 months in Göteborg I think I have to stop thinking of myself as the new girl in town! I know my way around, have my favourite hangouts and the plan now is to spend free time exploring the rest of the country.
I must say with the summer fast approaching I am getting excited but I am also very sad that suzi my english saving grace is getting ready to leave us and head back to cambridge. Don't go Suzi, I know you love this place really!
